A Calculus of Pragmatic Obligation

چکیده

We present a qualitative, decision-theoretic account for statements of the form: "You ought to do A, if C". We show that adding a qualitative causal theory (in the form of a graph) as part of an epistemic state is sufficient to facilitate the analysis of action sequences, their consequences, their interaction with observations, their expected utilities and, hence, the assertability of conditional "ought" statements.

Obligation Change in Dependence Logic and Situation Calculus

Obligation change raises the “frame problem” which is to characterise what obligations remain unchanged after an action has been performed. Many general solutions have been proposed but even if they are attractive from a thoretical point of view they have practical draw-

Pragmatic Reasoning With a Point of View

Cheng and Holyoak (1985) proposed that realistic reasoning in deontic contexts is based on pragmatic schemas such as those for assessing compliance with or violation of permission and obligation rules, and that the evocation of these schemas can facilitate performance in Wason's (1966) selection task. A number of investigators have since obtained evidence that the dominant pattern of selections...

Tractable Probabilistic mu-Calculus That Expresses Probabilistic Temporal Logics

We revisit a recently introduced probabilistic μ-calculus and study an expressive fragment of it. By using the probabilistic quantification as an atomic operation of the calculus we establish a connection between the calculus and obligation games. The calculus we consider is strong enough to encode well-known logics such as pctl and pctl∗. Its game semantics is very similar to the game semantic...

Mathematical problems in image processing - partial differential equations and the calculus of variations, 2nd Edition

Let's read! We will often find out this sentence everywhere. When still being a kid, mom used to order us to always read, so did the teacher. Some books are fully read in a week and we need the obligation to support reading. What about now? Do you still love reading? Is reading only for you who have obligation? Absolutely not! We here offer you a new book enPDFd mathematical problems in image p...
